Lindy by the Lake
I founded Lindy by the Lake (located at E. 18th st and Lakeshore, Oakland) in 2018 to give East Bay swing dancers a free and inclusive space to move, connect, and build community. After some thoughtful chats with friends from Lindy in the Park, this little idea came to life—and it grew into something really special. During the pandemic, it became one of the first outdoor dance venues to return, and since then, it’s continued to blossom. We’re a community and volunteer run, LGBTQ-friendly gathering, offering free taster classes and, when we can, live bands that bring the music to life. We love to support jazz artists and musicians!
As the organizer for Lindy by the Lake (LBTL), I am often running around like a headless chicken and I rarely have time to photograph.
